The boring bit

Privacy policy

We're a small shop selling PDF guides. We collect the little we need to take your order and stay in touch, and nothing else.

Last updated Sep 24, 2026

What we collect

  • Your email address, when you buy a guide, claim a free one, join our mailing list or send us a message. It's how we deliver your files and how you get back to them later.
  • Order details: which guides you bought, the amount and the date. We never see or store your card number.
  • Anything you type into the contact form: your name, your email and your message.
  • If you join the group chat: your first and last name, an optional profile picture, what you post (messages, reactions, pictures), who you block or report, and when you were last around. Other members only ever see your first name and last initial. Moderators can see your full name and email. Location data is stripped from every picture you upload.
  • Basic, anonymous traffic data collected by our hosting provider, such as which pages get visited. It isn't tied to you.

How we use it

To send you your downloads, to let you sign back in and re-download them, to answer your messages, and to email you about new guides if you're on our list. That's it. We don't sell your information, and we don't hand it to advertisers.

The group chat

Nothing you post in the chat is private. Messages, pictures and reactions are visible to every member of the channel they're posted in, and members are other people, not us: they can save, screenshot or repeat what you share, and we can't control that. Your profile card (first name and last initial, shop name, state, and an Instagram or website if you add one) is shown to every member, and your invite link identifies you to whoever you send it to. Please don't post personal or confidential information in the chat, yours or anyone else's.

The anonymous channel is the one exception. A post there is shown with no name and no picture, to members and moderators alike, and there are no reactions or typing indicators in it. We do keep a record of who wrote each post, in a part of the database that no page, email or moderator screen ever reads. It exists so you can edit or delete your own post, so we can apply the usual posting limits, and so a moderator can warn, mute or ban whoever wrote an abusive post without being told who that is. That record is deleted when you leave the chat, and thirty days after a post is removed. The text and pictures you post are still visible to every member, so leave out anything that would identify you.

Messages are visible to every member of the channel they're posted in. Messages a moderator removes are kept for 30 days so the moderators can review them, then the text is wiped. We keep a log of every moderation action. If you leave the chat (“Delete my chat account” in your chat settings), your picture is removed and your profile is archived rather than erased: other members see “Deleted member” in place of your name, and only the moderators can still see your name, email and shop, and when you left. Sign in again and you can rejoin with the same profile. If you'd rather it was erased completely, email [email protected] and we will; your messages stay either way, credited to “Deleted member”. If you're banned we keep your email address so the same account can't come back. We email you about mentions and replies if you've left that switched on in your chat settings, and about moderation decisions regardless. If you invite someone, we store their email address alongside your name until they join or for as long as we keep invite records.

If you take the paid membership, Stripe handles your card and billing details and we keep only the subscription's status, its Stripe identifiers and renewal date. Bundle purchases are matched to chat accounts by email address to include the free year.

The mailing list

If you buy a guide, claim a free one, join the group chat or sign up in the footer, we add you to our email list so we can tell you when there's something new. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and one click is all it takes. You can also email us and we'll take you off ourselves.

Who else touches your data

We use a handful of well-known services to run the shop, and each one only gets what it needs:

  • Stripe takes the payment. Your card details go straight to them and never reach us.
  • Supabase stores the catalogue, your order and the guide files.
  • Resend sends our emails, including receipts and the newsletter.
  • Vercel hosts the website.

We may also share information if the law requires it, which so far it never has.

Cookies and your browser

No advertising or tracking cookies. When you sign in to reach your downloads or the group chat, we set a cookie that keeps you signed in; that's the only one, and it's essential to the site working. If the sign-in form shows a “verify you're human” box, that's Cloudflare Turnstile, which sets no tracking cookie. Your shopping bag is kept in your own browser's local storage and never leaves your device until you check out.

How long we keep it

Order records stay with us for as long as we're trading, partly so you can always re-download what you paid for and partly because tax rules expect it. Contact messages and mailing-list entries stay until you ask us to remove them.

Your choices

Ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we'll sort it out. Deleting your details does mean losing access to past downloads, so we'll check with you first.

Children

This shop is meant for people running or opening a business, and isn't aimed at children. The group chat is for adults only: you confirm you're 18 or over when you join. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and we'll remove a chat account we learn belongs to someone under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes we'll update the date at the top of the page. Carrying on using the site means the new version applies.
