The other boring bit

Terms of use

Short version: the guides are yours to use in your own business, but not yours to resell or hand around. Here's the longer one.

Who we are

Lazy Girl Retail sells downloadable guides and templates for people opening and running boutiques. Using this site or buying from it means you agree to what's on this page.

What you're buying

Every product here is a digital file. There's nothing to ship. As soon as your payment goes through, your download is available on the confirmation page and in My orders, which you can reach any time by asking for a sign-in link.

What you can do with it

You get a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the guide for yourself and for the business you run. Print it, scribble on it, work through it with your staff.

What you can't do is pass it on. Specifically, please don't:

  • resell, rent or sub-licence it
  • share the file or your download link publicly
  • republish chunks of it as your own work, or as part of a course or membership
  • use it to train a machine-learning model

The guides, the wording, the layouts and everything else on this site stay ours.

Free guides

Some guides are free in exchange for an email address. Same licence, same rules, and the same unsubscribe link in every email we send.

Payment and prices

Payments are handled by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars and can change at any time, though a change never affects an order you've already placed. Any tax due is shown at checkout.

Refunds

Because a download can't be given back, sales are final. That said, we're reasonable people: if a file won't open, arrives damaged, or is plainly not what the page said it was, tell us within 14 days and we'll fix it or refund you.

No promises about results

These guides are what worked for us, shared in good faith. They aren't legal, tax, accounting or financial advice, and nothing here is a guarantee that your shop will make money. Please get proper professional advice before making big decisions, and run your own numbers.

Where it stands legally

The site and the guides are provided as they are, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, our liability for anything connected to a guide is limited to what you paid for it.

The group chat

The group chat is a members-only space on this site. To use it you must be 18 or over, sign in with a real email address, give your real name and shop, and follow the community guidelines, which are part of these terms. By creating a chat account you agree to everything in this section. We email you about your account and, if you leave it switched on in your chat settings, a daily summary of what you missed; joining the chat does not put you on a marketing list.

Nothing in the chat is private

Every message, picture, reaction and profile detail you post in the chat is visible to every other member of the channel you post it in, and to the moderators. Members are people we have not vetted. They can read, save, screenshot, quote and repeat anything you share, and we have no way to stop them. Treat the chat as a room full of other shop owners, not as a private conversation, and never post anything you would not be comfortable seeing outside it: passwords, bank or card details, addresses, customers' personal information, health details, or anything confidential to your business.

The anonymous channel shows posts without a name or picture, to members and moderators alike. The content of a post is still visible to every member of the channel. We keep a private record of who wrote each anonymous post, used only for the purposes set out in our privacy policy; the guidelines apply there as everywhere else, and moderation action can be taken against the author of a post without their identity being revealed.

Your profile card (first name and last initial, shop name, state, and any Instagram or website you add) is shown to every member. Moderators can also see your full name and email address.

What members post is on them, not us

Everything in the chat is written by its members. It is their opinion, not ours, and it is not advice of any kind. We do not review posts before they appear, we do not vet the people, vendors, products, services, numbers or links members mention, and we do not promise that anything said in the chat is accurate, lawful, safe or suitable for you. If you act on something you read there, you do so at your own risk. Links posted by members lead to sites we do not control.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Lazy Girl Retail, its owners, moderators and staff are not liable for anything a member posts, shares or does, for anything you post that others then use, for any loss that follows from relying on what you read in the chat, or for the chat being unavailable, altered or discontinued. Where the law does not allow us to exclude liability entirely, our total liability connected with the chat is limited to what you have paid us for it in the previous twelve months.

What you can post, and the licence you give us

  • Only post what you have the right to post: no other people's photos, messages or private details, no copyrighted material you don't own, and none of our guide content.
  • What you post stays yours. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and moderate it in the chat for as long as the chat exists, and to keep it there credited to “Deleted member” if you later delete your account, so conversations still make sense.
  • Don't impersonate anyone, don't post spam or unsolicited promotion, don't harass anyone, and don't try to get around blocks, mutes, bans or channel restrictions. Don't scrape the chat or use automated tools against it.
  • If you believe something in the chat infringes your rights or breaks the law, tell us at [email protected] and we will look at it promptly.

Moderation and your account

Moderators may remove or edit messages, hold pictures for review, restrict what you can do, mute you, remove your access to channels, or close your account, at their discretion and without notice where these terms or the guidelines have been broken or where they reasonably think it necessary. Serious or repeated problems mean a permanent ban, and the email address can't rejoin. We may also change, suspend or end the chat, or any channel, at any time.

You agree to cover us for any claim, loss or cost (including reasonable legal fees) that arises from something you post in the chat or from your breach of these terms.

Membership

Some channels are open only to members with the paid membership, to people who bought a guide, or to people we let in by hand. The membership is a monthly subscription billed through Stripe at the price shown when you join. It renews automatically each month until you cancel from your membership page; cancelling stops the next charge and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We don't refund partial months. If a payment fails, access to members-only channels may be paused until it is sorted. We may change the price for future periods with notice by email; existing subscribers keep their price until then. Anyone who buys the bundle gets a year of membership included, as a courtesy we may change for future purchases.

Using the site

Please don't try to break into the site, scrape it, or get at files you haven't paid for. We can close off access to anyone who does, and cancel an order we believe is fraudulent.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top says when we last did. The version in force is the one on this page when you place your order.
